Dog Tarot Card – I The Magician

I – The Magician Card

The Magician is the dog who has figured out The System. Traditionally, this card represents personal power, manifestation and focusing energy. For dogs, that means knowing where the treats are and the sounds the packet makes. The magician dog has mastered the ancient art of The Stare.

Through years of careful observation and scientific testing, the magician has proved that humans are actually trainable. Using a combination of head tilts, puppy eyes and cute poses, treats manifest themselves, walks, and belly rubs are summoned.

When This Card Appears: Time to stop begging and start manifesting. You have the power to make things happen through sheer force of will and a tilt of the head. Channel your inner border collie – intelligent, focused, and great at manipulating sheep.

Reversed Meaning: You’ve been trying to use your powers for evil (like convincing humans that you haven’t been fed in DAYS when it’s been 20 minutes). Remember: with great paw-er comes great responsibility.

The four elements of dog magic:

  • Earth Element – The Stick
  • Air Element – The Ball
  • Water Element – The Water Bowl
  • Fire Element – Fire In The Belly Rub

Key Dog Wisdom:

  • You have all the tools you need (four paws, one nose, unlimited determination)
  • Persistence and focus can move mountains (or at least get you a spot on the sofa)
  • Master the art of selective hearing – you can’t hear “no” but can detect a Good Dog treat in a human’s pocket from metres away
  • Ultimate power comes from knowing exactly when to deploy The Eyes

Note: I am (clearly) not an expert on Tarot, just learning about the cards from a dog’s-eye view, while using it as an excuse to draw more dogs. You can buy a print of this from the Drawing The Dog Shop.
